Filtration, UV & Humidity · Pearland & South Houston

Air You Can Actually Trust.

Houston air is loaded with pollen, mold spores, humidity, and whatever the refineries are doing today. A 1" filter from the hardware store is not enough. Real indoor air quality is a layered system: filtration, sterilization, and humidity. We design and install all three.

  • MERV-13 whole-home filtration
  • HEPA bypass filtration
  • REME HALO UV
  • Whole-home dehumidifiers
  • Air quality testing

What's included in a Indoor Air Quality

We install three categories of air quality equipment: filtration, sterilization, and humidity control. Most homes need at least two.

Whole-home media filtration

MERV-13 or higher cabinet filters that catch pollen, dust, mold spores, and most allergens. Replaces the 1" filter approach with something that actually works.

True HEPA bypass filtration

For severe allergies, asthma, or immune-compromised households. A bypass HEPA unit pulls a slipstream of return air through a true 99.97% HEPA filter and a carbon stage, then dumps it back into the supply. Captures particles down to 0.3 microns, smoke, and most VOCs, without choking your air handler the way an inline HEPA would.

UV sterilization (REME HALO)

Installed in your air handler. Uses UV light + ionization to neutralize mold, viruses, and odors before they recirculate. Genuinely effective in Houston's humidity.

Whole-home dehumidifiers

Houston's real comfort problem isn't heat, it's humidity. A dedicated whole-home dehumidifier holds the home at 45-50% RH year-round, which feels cooler at higher thermostat settings and stops mold cold.

Air quality testing

Particle counts, VOCs, CO, humidity, temperature mapping. We measure first, recommend second. Numbers, not vibes.

When indoor air is the problem

Allergies that won't quit, dust that comes back the day after you clean, musty smells when the AC kicks on. Often the air is the problem.

  • Allergies or asthma flare up indoors
  • Persistent dust on furniture days after cleaning
  • Musty smell when the AC kicks on
  • Visible mold around vents or in bathrooms
  • Humidity feels high (>55%) even with AC running
  • Family members getting sick more often
  • House feels stuffy or stale
  • Cooking or pet odors that linger
  • New construction or recent renovation off-gassing
  • Just moved in and want a baseline air test

How a visit works

Five steps. No surprises. Same on your first call as your fiftieth.

  1. Schedule an IAQ assessment

A real walk-through of your home. We measure humidity, particle counts, and look at your existing filtration setup.

  2. Written recommendations

Three options usually: filtration, sterilization, humidity. We tell you what would actually help and what wouldn't, sometimes one box is enough.

  3. Installation

Most IAQ equipment installs in half a day. Cabinet filters and UV lamps tie into the existing air handler. Dehumidifiers need a small amount of new ducting.

  4. Verification

After install we re-test particles and humidity to confirm the system is doing what we said it would.

  5. Annual service

Filters get changed, UV bulbs get replaced annually, dehumidifier gets a tune-up. Comfort Club covers all three.

What Pearland neighbors are saying

★★★★★

"Added MERV-13 filtration and a REME HALO. Within two weeks my wife's allergies dropped off a cliff. The whole house smells better and the dust is way less. Wish we'd done it years ago."

★★★★★

"We had a constant musty smell every time the AC kicked on. Clear the Air found mold in the drain pan, treated the system, and installed UV. Smell gone in a week and hasn't come back."

★★★★★

"Whole-home dehumidifier was the best money I've spent on my house. Set the thermostat 3 degrees warmer and the house feels MORE comfortable than before. Bill is meaningfully lower too."

Frequently asked

Do I need a fancy air purifier?

Probably not standalone. The most effective IAQ setup is layered: high-MERV whole-home filtration handles particles, UV/ionization handles biologicals and odors, and a dehumidifier handles humidity. Standalone purifiers are fine for one bedroom but don't treat the whole home.

What MERV rating should I use?

MERV-11 to MERV-13 is the sweet spot for most homes. Higher MERV catches more, but it also restricts airflow on systems that weren't designed for it. We size the filter to the system, not the other way around. The wrong MERV-16 can choke an AC and cost you efficiency or cause coil freezing.

What about true HEPA filtration?

True HEPA captures 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, the gold standard for allergies, asthma, wildfire smoke, and post-surgical recovery. The catch: HEPA media is too restrictive to put inline with a residential air handler, it would crash your airflow. We install bypass HEPA units that pull a slipstream off the return, filter it through HEPA + activated carbon, and return it to the supply. You get true HEPA performance without sacrificing system airflow. Worth it for households with serious allergy or respiratory issues; overkill for most.

Does a UV light really work?

A properly installed UV system, like REME HALO, neutralizes mold, viruses, and many odors as air passes through the air handler. It's especially effective in Pearland's humidity, which otherwise grows mold on coils and in drain pans. We've installed thousands and the customer feedback is consistently positive.

Why would I need a dehumidifier if I have AC?

AC dehumidifies as a side effect of cooling, not as its main job. On mild Houston days when your AC isn't running much, the indoor humidity creeps up to 60-65% and the home feels clammy and grows mold. A dedicated whole-home dehumidifier holds 45-50% year-round and feels noticeably more comfortable.

How often do filters and UV bulbs need to be changed?

High-MERV cabinet filters last 6-12 months. UV bulbs lose intensity over time and should be replaced annually even if they still glow. We track this for Comfort Club members so you don't have to.

Can you test my air quality?

Yes. We bring in particle counters, VOC meters, CO meters, and humidity loggers. The result is a written baseline of what's actually in your air. We can leave loggers in place for several days for a more accurate read.

Will an IAQ system reduce my energy bills?

Indirectly. A dehumidifier lets you set the thermostat 2-3 degrees higher and feel the same comfort, which is a real bill savings. Filtration alone won't reduce bills, but a clean coil from upstream filtration helps efficiency over time.

Are there allergy or health benefits?

Anecdotally, yes, most customers report fewer allergy symptoms within weeks. We're HVAC contractors, not doctors, so we don't make medical claims. But the science on filtration, UV, and humidity control is well-established.
