Two basic UV install patterns, and the right one depends on what you are trying to do.
Coil sterilization lamp
A single high-output UV-C lamp aimed at the evaporator coil and drain pan. Runs continuously. Keeps biological slime from growing on the coil, which is the main cause of musty AC smells in Pearland. Most cost-effective UV install.
In-duct sterilization system
Two-bulb system aimed across the airstream. Kills airborne biologicals as the air passes through. Useful as part of a layered IAQ approach for households with chronic allergy or immune issues.
Hospital-grade options
Higher-output bulbs and longer dwell times for households with serious medical needs. We install ETL-listed equipment and verify dosage with light meters when needed.
Annual bulb replacement

When UV-C is the right tool
UV-C is great for one specific job: killing biologicals on or near the coil. It is not a particle filter and not a VOC remover. If any of these apply, UV is worth the money.

Right-size the install
A coil lamp may be all you need. If you want airborne sterilization, that is a different setup. We do not oversell.

Install
Most UV installs take 60 to 90 minutes. Lamp mounted, electrical run, ballast secured outside the airstream where it can be serviced. Door switch interlock so the lamp cannot run with the panel open.

Will UV light keep my coil clean?

Does it kill viruses?
UV-C inactivates many airborne pathogens given enough dosage and dwell time. In a residential air handler, dwell time is short, so viral inactivation is partial, not complete. We do not market UV as a virus solution. We market it for what it does well, which is keeping the coil and drain pan clean.
Is UV-C light safe for my family?
Yes, when installed correctly. The lamp is enclosed in your air handler, behind sealed access panels, with door interlocks. UV-C never reaches the living space. The light only damages biologicals it can directly hit, which is why placement matters.
How often do I need to replace the bulb?
Annually. The bulb still glows after a year, but the UV-C output drops below useful levels around 9,000 to 12,000 hours. We schedule replacement at 12 months.
Will it eliminate smells in my house?
It eliminates the musty AC smell that comes from coil and drain biofilm, which is the most common HVAC odor we see in Pearland. It does not address cooking, pet, or VOC odors. Carbon filtration handles those.
