UV-C Air Purifiers in Pearland

UV Light, Aimed Where The Mold Actually Grows.

A UV-C light installed in your air handler keeps the evaporator coil and drain pan free of biological growth. In Pearland's humidity, that matters. A clean coil moves more air, drains correctly, and does not throw mold spores into your home every time the AC kicks on. We install coil sterilization lamps and in-duct sterilization systems sized to your equipment and dwell time.

  • Coil sterilization
  • Drain pan biological control
  • Annual bulb replacement
  • Comfort Club covers bulbs

What's included in a UV Air Purifiers

Two basic UV install patterns, and the right one depends on what you are trying to do.

Coil sterilization lamp

A single high-output UV-C lamp aimed at the evaporator coil and drain pan. Runs continuously. Keeps biological slime from growing on the coil, which is the main cause of musty AC smells in Pearland. Most cost-effective UV install.

In-duct sterilization system

Two-bulb system aimed across the airstream. Kills airborne biologicals as the air passes through. Useful as part of a layered IAQ approach for households with chronic allergy or immune issues.

Hospital-grade options

Higher-output bulbs and longer dwell times for households with serious medical needs. We install ETL-listed equipment and verify dosage with light meters when needed.

Annual bulb replacement

UV-C bulbs lose effective output well before they go dark. We replace bulbs annually as part of Comfort Club, or you can buy a replacement and we install it during your tune-up.

Equipment compatibility check

Some older HVAC plastic and seals are not UV-rated and will degrade. We confirm compatibility before installing. We also place lamps so they are not pointed at non-rated drain lines or sensors.

When UV-C is the right tool

UV-C is great for one specific job: killing biologicals on or near the coil. It is not a particle filter and not a VOC remover. If any of these apply, UV is worth the money.

  • Musty smell when the AC first kicks on
  • Visible biological growth (slime, mold) on the evaporator coil or in the drain pan
  • Recurring drain line clogs from biological buildup
  • Allergy or asthma symptoms that get worse during AC season
  • Recent water damage or coil cleaning that you want to keep clean
  • Member of the household has compromised immunity
  • Already added high-MERV media and want a layered solution

How a visit works

Five steps. No surprises. Same on your first call as your fiftieth.

  1. Quick equipment inspection

A technician opens up your air handler, looks at the coil and drain pan condition, and confirms the right placement and bulb count for your system. About 30 minutes on site.

  2. Right-size the install

A coil lamp may be all you need. If you want airborne sterilization, that is a different setup. We do not oversell.

  3. Install

Most UV installs take 60 to 90 minutes. Lamp mounted, electrical run, ballast secured outside the airstream where it can be serviced. Door switch interlock so the lamp cannot run with the panel open.

  4. Annual bulb replacement on the calendar

Bulbs go in the maintenance schedule. You will get a reminder when they are due, or Comfort Club covers it.

What Pearland neighbors are saying

★★★★★

"Our AC had that musty smell every time it kicked on. Tech installed a UV light on the coil, and within about 2 weeks the smell was gone for good. Drain line also stopped clogging."

"They were honest. Said the in-duct system would not do much for our pollen allergies and recommended a media upgrade plus the coil lamp instead. Saved us money and it actually worked."

Frequently asked

How much does a UV air purifier cost in Pearland?

Installed prices: $499 for a single coil lamp, $749 to $899 for a two-bulb in-duct system, $1,200+ for hospital-grade systems. Replacement bulbs run $80 to $150 per year depending on the model.

Will UV light keep my coil clean?

Yes, very effectively for biologicals (mold, bacteria, biofilm). It does not stop dust and pollen from accumulating, so you still want a good filter. UV plus high-MERV media is the standard pairing.

Does it kill viruses?

UV-C inactivates many airborne pathogens given enough dosage and dwell time. In a residential air handler, dwell time is short, so viral inactivation is partial, not complete. We do not market UV as a virus solution. We market it for what it does well, which is keeping the coil and drain pan clean.

Is UV-C light safe for my family?

Yes, when installed correctly. The lamp is enclosed in your air handler, behind sealed access panels, with door interlocks. UV-C never reaches the living space. The light only damages biologicals it can directly hit, which is why placement matters.

How often do I need to replace the bulb?

Annually. The bulb still glows after a year, but the UV-C output drops below useful levels around 9,000 to 12,000 hours. We schedule replacement at 12 months.

Will it eliminate smells in my house?

It eliminates the musty AC smell that comes from coil and drain biofilm, which is the most common HVAC odor we see in Pearland. It does not address cooking, pet, or VOC odors. Carbon filtration handles those.
