Cleaner Air, Through The Air You Already Move.
Whole-house air purifiers sit in the ductwork and treat every cubic foot of air your HVAC system circulates. That is dramatically more effective than a portable air purifier in one room. We install high-MERV media cabinets, electronic precipitators, and PCO (photocatalytic oxidation) systems sized to your specific ductwork and pressure budget.
- Sized to your ductwork
- Static pressure tested
- Allergy and asthma reductions
- Whole-house coverage
What's included in a Whole-House Air Purifiers
There is no one right air purifier. The right system depends on what you are trying to remove (particulates, VOCs, mold, smoke), your ductwork capacity, and your budget. Here is what we install and how we choose.
Media filter cabinets (MERV 13 to 16)
A 4-inch or 5-inch media cabinet with a high-efficiency pleated filter is the workhorse of whole-house IAQ. Captures pollen, mold spores, and most refinery particulate. Filter changes once or twice a year. We size the cabinet so it does not choke your air handler.
Electronic air cleaners
Electronic precipitators charge particles and collect them on metal plates. Maintenance is washing the plates every 2 to 3 months. They handle finer particulate than media filters and have very low static pressure penalty, but they need actual maintenance.
PCO and UV combination systems
PCO (photocatalytic oxidation) systems use UV light plus a catalyst to break down VOCs, odors, and some biologicals. Useful for households with chemical sensitivities, smokers, or persistent cooking odors. Bulb life is typically 1 to 2 years.
Carbon filtration for VOCs and odors
Activated carbon stages remove VOCs from off-gassing furniture, paint, and ambient air. Often paired with a media stage for a one-two punch on particulate plus chemicals.
Static pressure verification
Every IAQ install we do is paired with a static pressure measurement before and after, so we know the new equipment is not choking your blower. If your duct system cannot handle the additional restriction, we either size differently or recommend duct modifications first.
Annual filter and bulb service
IAQ equipment is not maintenance-free. Comfort Club includes filter and bulb replacement at the right intervals so you do not have to track it.
Reasons to add whole-house purification
Pearland air carries pollen, mold spores, and refinery particulate. If anyone in the home has allergies, asthma, or chemical sensitivities, whole-house purification is one of the highest-impact upgrades you can make.
- Allergy or asthma symptoms that get worse indoors
- Visible dust returning quickly after cleaning
- Smoker in the household, or cooking odors that linger
- Pets in the home
- Recent renovation, new furniture, or new flooring (VOC off-gassing)
- Family member with chemical sensitivities or autoimmune condition
- Live near refineries, the freeway, or wooded areas with heavy pollen
- Already running portable air purifiers and want a single solution
How a visit works
Five steps. No surprises. Same on your first call as your fiftieth.
-
Free indoor air quality assessment
A technician walks the house, identifies likely sources of indoor air problems, looks at the ductwork capacity, and asks about household health concerns. About 45 to 60 minutes on site.
-
Recommendation that fits the actual problem
We do not push the same system on everyone. Particulate problem? High-MERV media. VOC problem? Carbon plus PCO. Whole-house biological control? UV plus media. The recommendation matches the symptoms.
-
Install and pressure test
Cabinet installed in the supply or return plenum, electrical run if needed, static pressure measured before and after. Most installs take 2 to 4 hours.
-
Maintenance schedule on the calendar
You leave with a maintenance calendar for the equipment. Comfort Club members get the filter changes and bulb replacements included.
What Pearland neighbors are saying
"My daughter has asthma. Added a 5-inch MERV 13 media cabinet plus a UV light. Her overnight rescue inhaler use dropped from nightly to maybe twice a month. The dust on furniture also dramatically decreased."
"They actually measured static pressure before and after. The first company we called wanted to put a MERV 16 in our existing 1-inch slot, which would have killed the blower. Clear the Air did it right."
"Honest assessment, told us we did not need the most expensive option. Installed a media cabinet only and said come back to add UV later if needed. We have not needed to."
Frequently asked
How much does whole-house air purification cost?
Installed prices range from about $750 for a basic 4-inch MERV 13 media cabinet, to $1,800 for a high-end electronic air cleaner, to $2,400 to $3,200 for a combined media plus PCO plus carbon system. Replacement filters and bulbs are extra and depend on the system.
Is a whole-house purifier better than portable air purifiers?
For coverage, yes, dramatically. Portables treat one room. Whole-house treats every room your HVAC reaches. Portables are still useful for a sleeping room next to a busy street or a workshop. Most Pearland homes are better off with whole-house plus one portable in the worst room.
Will it hurt my AC system?
Not if it is sized correctly. Adding a high-MERV filter without enlarging the cabinet (or to existing 1-inch slots) chokes airflow and burns up blower motors. We measure static pressure and size accordingly. That is why we install in 4-inch or 5-inch cabinets, not the 1-inch slot.
Do these systems make ozone?
Some technologies do. We avoid ozone-generating equipment and only sell low-ozone or zero-ozone systems certified by ARB or ETL. Real PCO systems with proper catalysts produce trace ozone at most. We will not install anything we would not run in our own kitchen.
How often do filters need to be changed?
Pleated 4-inch MERV 13 filters typically last 6 to 12 months in Pearland. Carbon stages 6 months. UV bulbs every 12 months. Electronic plates need washing every 2 to 3 months. Comfort Club members get this scheduled and done.
Will I notice a difference?
Most customers notice less dust within 2 weeks, and allergy symptoms improve within 3 to 4 weeks as the cumulative load drops. VOC and odor improvements tend to be faster, often within a few days.
